As Iraq teeters on civil war, and climate change becomes more obvious every day, ELECTED imagines another history of the 21st Century … one with gasless cars, but without the war in Iraq – in a book readers are finishing in one sitting and starting over again.

More About the Book

“The style was fresh, the writing slick and fast-paced, with witty dialogue and delightful details that gave realistic characterization and narration. Travis’ creative liberties added an original kick, but did not stray so far from what happened in history to make it seem like two different Americas. The progression of the novel

was noteworthy, I like the way the characters develop and change throughout the period of time that elapsed. One of my favorite things about the novel was the international scope, which still plays a huge part of American politics.”

Special Must-Read Price Cut: E-book was $5.00 and is now .99 cents!

Every book on our Nation’s recent financial collapse strives to explain how it happened, Vile Acts of Evil explains why, and why every American should pay very close attention.

More About The Book

“The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off.”  Gloria Steinem’s glorious adage appears in the Preface of Michael Kirchubel’s Vile Acts of Evil – Banking in America for good reason: This work is certain to anger you because the truth is far worse than anything you could have ever imagined. “Vile Acts of Evil” is the worker’s guide to the history of American banking. This is the real story of money, greed, and power in America.  The book’s format is unique: quotes from newspapers, historians, economists, bankers, and political figures drive the story line and alternate with Kirchubel’s insightful, clarifying commentary.  The result is a lively and surprisingly captivating conversation on the true, unseen causes of our nation’s major calamities: the recessions, depressions, panics, wars, foreclosures, and bailouts.  This is a totally new analysis of our American economic and political history, from colonial times to today, complete with simple recommendations for preventing further calamities. Vile Acts of Evil is truly a modern-day Rosetta Stone, a powerful, interpretive, clarifying lens through which all historical, economic, and political works must now be reviewed and every American’s comfortable, well-worn political convictions re-examined.

Just when I thought I had figured out what comes next, JD Young throws a curve that I never expected and could not wait for more – it is wicked good reading.

More About The Book

Young does a very good job telling a well-rounded story; giving you bits and pieces, hints of connections here and there, but not enough for you to figure things out until he wants you to. I very much enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Young and I hope this is only the beginning of Simon’s story!

If your favorite activity in the summer is to be with a captivating book, curled up under the beach umbrella or on the mossy rock by the river or anywhere that is alone, then this summer’s list will surely include William Kenly’s “The Dogs of Luck, Comic Confessions From Warren PA, Corporate America and Family Life”.

More About The Book

Kenly is a writer; he’s got that mysterious thing analogous to perfect pitch. Kenly’s writing flows with the natural ease of a conversation with an old friend. His story unrolls with its own momentum. (Kenly) did a great job of capturing and holding my attention. I enjoyed reading about life growing up in Pennsylvania. The Boy Scouts, the river, the Christmas trees all seemed so familiar to me. There are so many things that we could do as kids that no one would get away with now. I also enjoyed reading about “life in corporate America” (particularly things I never knew about the men’s room) and I loved, loved, loved reading about the adventure to Russia. I felt I was right there in with him. The chapter “Sign Posts on the Journey” was one

of my favorite chapters. It was a magical, wondrous chapter full of wisdom and insight. So much was said in that chapter in a simple and profound way. The book is a sophisticated mixture of happiness, sadness, beauty, comedy, and philosophy that grabbed at my emotions and brought me to many different levels at the same time. I strongly recommend this book for anyone who is interested in reading something that is light and funny in some parts while, at the same time, provides you with food for thought. A+++

Adventures Unfold With the Question: “What if…?”

More About The Book

Raised in the forest alone by his father after a series of misfortunes turned their family’s life upside down, Robert’s life experience isn’t typical. But now, at the age of thirteen, it’s time for him to go out into the wider world. With only his native intelligence and the wisdom his father has imparted to him, Robert entered the

American lifestyle in 1969. Always guided by his father’s principle that when faced with a difficult decision, he should stop and ask himself “What if…?” Robert navigates a world full of people whose motives are less than pure, and finds friends who will last a lifetime. Follow Robert from the wilderness of Colorado to the wild side of Woodstock; from the back of a VW van to a safe haven with a family he never expected; from rags to riches; and from living outside the world to finding a secure place and identity for himself. Colorado to Woodstock and Back Again will prove to you, as well as to Robert, that “if” is at the center of “life”!

Singing is my Hobby

I love singing and nobody can stop me from doing so. Since almost all of my family loves music, and there are relatives who can sing well, we always include a singing activity in our family gatherings. Thankfully, we have an uncle, who has a renting business for a karaoke machine with a shure 58 mic. Everyone’s excited when we rent a karaoke machine; they definitely would want to have their turn to sing right away. It is the most fun bonding we could ever have. Hopefully, this would happen as often as possible.

Accident is just around the Corner

Accidents can happen anytime, any day and in any place. One week after the school started, my son had an accident and I am glad that it wasn’t that serious. Since then he don’t want to ride a motorcycle anymore. He would rather walk to and from his school than ride a motorcycle because he was shocked about what had happened.

One thing is for sure, accidents happen whenever and wherever you are.

I hope that this will not happen again with my son because when I got out from our house and seen him crying while shaking, my world literally fall apart and I almost want to kill the stupid driver of the other motorcycle who hit and run away.

School Activities for Kids

Classes have already started, and everyone seems to be excited on what they will learn from their teachers. Students also look forward with school presentations showcasing each and everyone’s talent. There are contest like dancing, poster-making, and singing. Other’s will do a fund raising concert, where you will see students on how well they play musical instruments like Martin guitars and Zildjian drums.

School activities like this, develops a child’s talent which a parent could be proud off. However, students should still be more focused on academics rather than the extra-curricular activities in school.

Modelling 101

As I have said, it is not too late to achieve or realize your dreams. Nobody’s too old to do something that he or she really loves.

I am in my late 20s already and becoming a model was one of my many ambitions in life which I have not reach or I have not find the time to do so. But when my friend opened an online shop/online store and asked me if I could pose using the clothes she’s selling and I gladly said yes! This is not the modelling career that I wanted but it could be a start. I mean all great things started in one small step, right?
So here, let me share with you some of the photos that she took:

LAX – Laguindingan Airport Express

I want to share this good information from a blogging friend (Mommy Grace) , because I know this is a very important one.
When we heard that the Laguindingan Airport will finally start its operation, we said to ourselves that it would be difficult and costly. Why? Laguindingan is very far from the City (Cagayan de Oro City that is) and so we need to pay for higher taxi fares or we need to spend more on our gas because it is far compared to the old Airport near SM.

But then again, I learned about this LAX. No, Not Los Angeles Express but Laguindingan Airport Express Shuttle which will cater the passengers needs. Their introductory price is 199php per person. There were 20 units going to and fro Laguindingan and Cagayan de Oro City. It is much cheaper compared to taxis.

The pick-up and drop-off point is at Corrales Road near Centrio.

Home Tips

In today’s world, nobody can afford to be wasting energy. Everywhere you look, you’re surrounded by people who are living more green, energy-efficient lives, both for the sake of their planet and the sake of their wallets. Kitchen appliances can be some of the biggest energy hogs in the entire house. There are more options than ever to fix this problem, such as buying energy-efficient frigidaire accessories at frigidaire-store.com, but which appliance exactly poses the biggest threat? The refrigerator is the #1 energy hogs in your home. If you have a separate freezer, that’s #2 on the list. These food cooling appliances may be great for storing leftovers and preserving perishables, but they can amount for more of your energy bill than you realize. Many people even have a second refrigerator in the basement or garage just for storing drinks! If you do, then the first step is to get rid of that second fridge. Generally, it’s using more energy than it’s worth. Secondly, start practicing good refrigeration habits with your family. Get all of your ingredients out of the fridge at once when you’re cooking. Opening and closing the door constantly is a huge energy waste. If the door open is left open for a period of time, that’s not great either, so figure out what you want from the fridge before you open it, instead of just standing and staring. You can also let hot food cool before you store it in the refrigerator or freezer. Of course, buying a new, energy efficient refrigerator is the easiest way to cut down on your energy bill, but if you can’t afford that, these tips will help you save energy in your own home. With the money you’ll save doing that, it won’t be long until you can buy yourself a new fridge after all!

5 Years of being a Globe User and Counting!

I got my first cellphone when I was a freshman college student and I don’t care what service provider I used, back then. The important thing was I have a cellphone, I can text and I can call. But when I was in my senior years, I realized that I am not satisfied with the service that I am paying for so I SWITCHED.
I was a prepaid Globe user and I do register to Unli-call and Unli-text all the time because I need it. I need it because I came from the province of Bukidnon and our place is four hours away from my school and being home-sick kills me. I always call my parents and my siblings every time I got the chance to call and I always text my high school friends to check if they are on the city so we could get-together from time to time.

When I started my business 5 years ago, I realized that I need to have my own postpaid line with Globe because I need to connect with my customers and with my business partners.

I am GLAD TO BE GLOBE  because it was so easy to apply for a Postpaid Plan with them. Believe it or not, I have 2 personal lines, 5 plans under my business name, 1 unlisurf, 1 my family circle plan, and I am still planning to apply for a new line. I even convinced my relatives to apply for a Globe postpaid line because you get more than your money’s worth.

I am GLAD TO BE GLOBE because it brings me to my first Smart Phone, my iPhone 4S. I cannot afford to buy an iPhone and I am glad that Globe has made it possible for me to own one with their affordable postpaid plans. I didn’t regret making the switch 5 years ago.

IMG_3548

I am GLAD TO BE GLOBE because I am allowed to have another iPhone 4S postpaid line that I have given to my dear brother who wants to own one too. He was so thankful that I have applied for a postpaid plan for him alone, it is unli-call, unli-text and unli-surf so that he can enjoy using his smart phone.
IMG_0351
IMG_0365
I am GLAD TO BE GLOBE because even though they provide priority numbers when paying for your Globe bill, you don’t have to wait that long. They have very efficient employees around the country. The first photo below is a Globe store located in Valencia Bukidnon, and the second photo is another Globe Store located in Lim Ket Kai, Cagayan de Oro. Of course you can pay your Globe bill through Bayad Centers and Bank transactions, and I can even auto-charge it with my credit card if I want to.
154902_10151171816922499_1786109826_n535618_10151281741632499_1830310665_n
I am GLAD TO BE GLOBE because it paved the way to my LOVE for Apple products. If Globe didn’t approve my application for an iPhone 4S plan, I couldn’t appreciate Apple products because I have not tried using it.
33978_10151293846247499_1892445549_nI am GLAD TO BE GLOBE because they have made a BOLD MOVE in upgrading their network in the whole Philippines. Dropped calls were reduced, text messages arrived on time even during holidays, and internet is FASTER compared to other network service providers.

I am GLAD TO BE GLOBE because it doesn’t only connect me to my love-ones and friends but it allows me to connect with my readers and social network friends.

I am GLAD TO BE GLOBE and I have been for the past five years and I will be for the next coming years because NOTHING COMPARES TO GLOBE Services. They have stood by their promise, they connect people, they bridge communities, and yes they care for their subscribers.

I am GLAD TO BE GLOBE, ARE YOU?
