Last night, while I was watching the television, I was able to catch the news about Nora Aunor and Anne Curtis posing for magazines holding cigarettes. Nora Aunor is a great actress in her time and has a beautiful singing voice, and yes she poses for the YES magazine with a cigarette in her hands simply because she smokes. She said during the interview as to why it was the cover picture, she just said that why should the people make a big deal out of it when everybody knows she is a smoker. Anne Curtis on the other hand poses for Rogue magazine holding a cigarette in her hand looking so fashionable in a way. Anne Curtis is a great actress of this generation and I am one of her fans.
And yes, when I saw the news, I was disappointed with both of them. I can’t even stop myself from not posting a status in my Facebook account stating that I am a fan and at the same time disappointed with their poses. Why? Simply because posing for a magazine, knowing that you are famous and those teenagers who idolizes you thinks everything you do is cool and just right for everyone who is at your age or somewhere close to it, is like encouraging them to do what you are doing.
Many people have reacted in my FB status and said that it is their right, having the freedom of expression, and the parents should guide their children to back away or stay away from smoking, or that it is their life so why bother. Look, I am a parent, but cigarettes in our country are sold like candies in every Sari-sari Store next to your house. The teenagers can buy them easily, the store owners, thinking that they need to earn too, will not bother ask the buyers for whom it is bought for. Children and teenagers spent most of their time during the day outside their homes, outside their parent’s watchful eyes, so how can the parents know that their youngsters are on the verge of getting addicted to smoking? Smoking is not healthy and smoking kills. And yet a lot of people are addicted to it, simply because they have started to smoke at a very young age and even though they wanted to quit they just cannot do it because it is so hard to quit that habit. If we can help it, we should not be curious and try it and regret it afterwards.
For my online friends who already know about what happened in my dear Alma Mater (Pangantucan Central Elementary School – Pangantucan Bukidnon), this post will not be a surprise. I have posted a help campaign from my other blog (Farm Girl Blogger) because it is where I posted the events that are happening in my home town.
Honestly, I have not posted enough for this year because I have been very busy with my personal life, but now I have thought of sharing the different events that took place in my home town because I have so many “Kababayans” who are working abroad and who would love to read what are the improvements that are happening in our beloved town. They wanted to be updated, to see the hometown they have never seen for a long time and to read something about their hometown online.
Back to my title post, this is a post where in help is wanted. Yes, I am looking for people who could help me with my cause. A part of our elementary school caught fire last September 09, 2011. Though there was nobody injured during the incident, 4 classrooms, 1 school clinic and our entire school band instruments were destroyed by the fire. We were not able to save anything from it aside from some teacher’s tables and pupil’s desks because our school building was made of wood and light materials that is why it was hard to fight down the fire and save the other classrooms beside it.
I was once a member of the School Band that is why it pains me to see that the band members are having troubles practicing simply because they have no band instruments to play on. Our town fiesta is fast approaching and there would be no elementary school band to lead the parade if we cannot find ways to have band instruments. As of now, I am finding ways to help my school, there are already people who have pledge for some of the band instruments and there are people who also send money to help. But it is still not enough. I am asking your kind hearts to please help me with my cause, if you are willing to help, you can send any amount of money to my paypal account (charming_anne106(@)yahoo(dot)com) so that I could also buy a band instrument that would be a great help to my school.
Some of you who are really kind and love helping people may enjoy programs via www.onlinesocialworkdegree.org where you could become a social worker.
God Bless your Beautiful Soul
Last April 24, we celebrated Jb’s 4th birthday and yes, I have prepared a different giveaway for my son’s birthday.
Instead of the usual, baby figurines, little jewelry trinkets and the likes, I have prepared an Eco-Bag. Yes, I have no ORIGINALITY. I have seen this one and receive one for Sati’s birthday last year from Mommy Peh that is why I have thought of spreading the news and help Mommy Peh in her desire to help make Mother Nature clean and green.
I have asked Mommy Peh’s help in order for me to have these Eco-Bags before Jb’s birthday. So, you could imagine that Mommy Peh is the one behind all the Eco-Bags I have distributed to our guests last Easter Sunday and to some friends who were not able to attend the event.
When I distributed the Eco-Bags, the mommies appreciated my effort and the kids shouted with joy and said “even Mommies have loot bags”. Because the kids thought that if they attend children’s party, they are the only ones who are entitled to have loot bags and they are wrong.
Thank you Mommy Peh for opening not only my eyes but other people’s eyes to what is happening to our world and that there is something we can do to make the Earth a better place to live in.
I ordered another 2 t-shirts from Kcat for my brother and my mother. I love them dearly and I felt that these t-shirts would make them happy. Here is a picture of my brother trying out his t-shirt and I haven’t caught my mom wearing it yet.
KUDOS to Kcat for designing these t-shirts, they are awesome and great.
I have ordered two t-shirts from Kcat last Friday and they have arrived yesterday. Here they are:
Yes, the shirts I have ordered from Kcat in order to help her for her eye surgery has finally arrived and I LOVE IT!
So I am ordering two more, for my mom and brother. I can make my mom and brother happy by giving them a gift and I am helping Kcat for her eye surgery.
You don’t need to buy from Kcat to help her, you can donate money to her or perhaps blog about her and maybe there are other people who will be touched by her story and have the capacity to send money to her.
Yesterday, Fedhz, a blogging friend of mine has asked me if I wanted a t-shirt and I thought she will give me one, she even gave the link in order to choose. Girl, I was wrong, she is sharing to me a fund-raising for her friend’s eye surgery.
I never heard about Kcat’s story until yesterday. I am sorry if I have missed this on TV or in the newspapers or in the internet. But now that I have learned about it, I want to spread it to my fellow bloggers, to my readers, and to my friends.
I am supporting Kcat’s Eye surgery through buying t-shirts from her. Yes, Kcat is selling different items in order to raise enough money for her eye surgery. A little amount of money could be of great help to Kcat. So I am sharing her story to you. I am hoping that you will also spread the news and be of help to her. Or maybe, you could share your blessings and buy a t-shirt or two from her. You can check out her site at Kcat’s hEAR yeah.
