Moreover, I have finally decided to become a VIP member. Why? Because I realized that I could always get my money’s worth being a Sample Room’s VIP member.

Happy Mother’s Day to the BEST Mom for me and my siblings!

To the woman who gave birth to us,
To the woman who molded us to be better persons,
To the woman who gave us everything from things that money can buy to the things untouchable,
To the woman who didn’t hesitate to spank us and scold us whenever we made mistakes,
To the woman who never lose hope and believed in her children when everybody turned their backs,
To the woman who made us laugh and cry,
To the woman who let us broke our knees and let us learn to stand up on our own,
To the woman who cried with us when we got brokenhearted for the first time,
-Happy Mother’s Day Mama Ettoy-

Rotavirus – What is it?

According to MSD’s leaflet Rotavirus is a common stomach virus that’s very easy to get and the symptoms includes diarrhea, vomiting and fever. These symptoms can lead to serious dehydration.

Yesterday, we went to our Municipal Health Center to have my daughter’s second dose of Rotavirus Oral Vaccine. Her first dose was given by her Pediatrician for about 3000php, it was too late when I learned that our local health center already has this vaccine for free. This oral vaccination targets 5 of the most common types of Rotavirus. I am a mother who believes that prevention is better than cure that is why I always visit my kids Pediatrician and have the kids vaccinated for all the available vaccines and immunization they can provide for my kids.

An estimated 10 Filipino children die each day from rotavirus gastroenteritis according to Parashar U, Hummelman E, Bresee J et al Global illness and deaths caused by rotavirus disease in children. I have suffered from diarrhea and it was very hard, I don’t want my kids to suffer from the same illness. I hate to see kids that has a needle in their hands connected to a dextrose because they needed to be hydrated because of their illness.

If you don’t have the money or budget for an oral vaccine to protect your newborn, visit your local municipal health center, they have vaccines that are given for free. Do not delay.

Pray for the Philippines

Pray for the Philippines became one of the trending topics in Twitter last August 7, 2012. Watching the news makes me scared, terrified and helpless. I am in Bukidnon and though we have experience heavy rains before we have not experienced flash floods and land slides like what I saw on the national TV these past few days.

Thinking for the safety of the people I know who lives in Luzon, I prayed, prayed for the rain to stop, I also helped in re-tweeting some tweople’s tweet for help, and where to seek help.

I have remembered Ondoy, the typhoon who took a lot of lives in Luzon 3 years ago. I also remember Sendong, the typhoon who brought flash flood in Cagayan de Oro. And the only thing that I could do is watch the news and pray. And help in any way I can.

If you want to help the Philippines rise again after what happened, you can send donations. In cash and in kind. Here’s how if you want to send cash:

Help a child become an “e.Studyante” with P&G promo packs

School children in the Philippines face many challenges; sometimes, even the simple walk to school in the morning can be an arduous journey. Students cross rivers, traverse mountain peaks, even go through battlegrounds just to go to school. And when they arrive, they are faced with meager resources – overcrowded classrooms, the lack of books and school supplies – which all make for an uninspiring learning environment.

That is why starting on its 76th year, Procter and Gamble (P&G) Philippines is setting out to make these students’ journey more worthwhile. Taking its commitment to education to the next level, P&G will provide technology and connectivity to Filipino students nationwide with its e.Studyante program.

Along with partner Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) and Synergeia Foundation, the e.Studyante program will provide kids from selected schools with an XO Laptop from the One Laptop per Child (OLPC) Association. The XO laptop is a rugged, low-power, connected laptop especially designed to make learning more engaging and more fun for students.

Students can use their laptops not just to learn but to share and connect with each other, with their communities and with the world – helping them all become an “e.Studyante.”

The goal is simple: Give out 1,000,000 laptops in time for P&G’s 100th year. And you can help.

“For children all over the country, the challenge of education begins even before they step into the classroom. Some have to wake up at the crack of dawn and walk miles through unpaved roads, through woods and rivers, just to get to school. We are doing this for these students. We want to make this journey worthwhile for them by giving them the tool that will place the world’s knowledge at their fingertips – through a laptop and internet connectivity,” said Chad Sotelo, e.Studyante Country Marketing Manager.

“But it’s not something we can do alone,” Sotelo added. “To help us reach our goal of 1,000,000 students, we would like to invite moms all over the country to support the e.Studyante program by buying P&G promo packs.”

Through the “e.Studyante” program, you can help give a child a laptop by buying specially marked P&G promo packs available nationwide. You not only save up to 40% on your favorite P&G products but you also help provide a child with a world of educational materials and fun activities that will inspire them to learn and achieve even more.

Participating brands include Safeguard, Tide, Pampers, Downy, Ariel, Pantene, Head & Shoulders, Joy, Rejoice, Whisper, Olay, Gillette, Vicks and Ambi-Pur.

Helping those in need has never been easier. You can help make each child’s journey to school more worthwhile. Support the e.Studyante program and help gift each student with a brighter future! Isang laptop, mas malawak na kaalaman, mas magandang bukas.

The Good Old Business : Restaurants

Philippines is a FOOD CAPITAL. Everywhere I go I see restaurants, food carts, food chains and everything else that sells food. The people who sells food varies, we have the finest restaurants for the elite and rich people, we have the fast-food chains for those who have salaries enough to spend on them, and we have the food carts and food vendors along the highways for the people who loves to eat but couldn’t afford to eat at the restaurants.

It is easy to manage a food carts because there is only one person who handles everything, from the cooking to the selling of the foods. The usual foods sold in the food cart are “Squid Balls”, “Tempura”, “Camote Cue” and “Banana Cue”, and other food that are easy to prepare. While the fast-food chain and the restaurant needs a lot of people, from the restaurant manager to the service crews and the people who cooks the food. Restaurant System is a big help to restaurants and fast-food chains in order to have a clean and good record of their sales and everything else that matters about the business.

People eat. So selling food is always a good business.

Better to be Safe than Sorry

We are on our way home when I noticed something, the man who is riding at the back of a pick up vehicle right in front of us, is wearing a motorcycle helmet. I don’t know what this guy was thinking when he wore it.

I know this is funny but sometimes we can ponder, maybe it is better to be safe than to be sorry. What if an accident happens and the only thing that will protect him from harm is that motorcycle helmet. I am also thinking maybe he is wearing the helmet because it is for FUN, or it is stylish? Aside from the fact that there is already a national law that has been passed that all motorcycle drivers will now wear a helmet when traveling.

Manny Pacquiao WON again

I am FILIPINO, I am proud about what Manny has done so far, for my country, for his career, for his family. But for today, I am quite disappointed with the judges’ decision. I am not a boxing fan, I don’t even know how the judges give their scores to the boxers during the event but I have watched it with my own two eyes and I believe Juan Manuel Marquez should win the fight.

If, like me, you have watch the fight for today, do you think Manny Pacquiao deserves to WIN? Because for me, I think he don’t deserve it.

Juan Manuel Marquez put up a good fight and he throws a lot of punches to Manny Pacquiao for the last 12 rounds. But who cares what I think, anyway?

Manny Pacquiao have won so many fights, and have lost some, there were fights he doesn’t deserve to lose and I think Juan Manuel Marquez and all the Mexicans out there felt what we felt when Manny Pacquiao lost a fight in which it was clear that he should have won.

Storms and Houses

Ninety-nine percent of my life I have spent in Bukidnon, and that 1 % was spent in Cagayan de Oro when I went to study and get my college degree. In Bukidnon, we don’t usually experience storms, earthquakes and other catastrophes that other provinces/parts of the Philippines have experienced. I think we weren’t able to use our calamity fund for that matter and though we are prone to landslides and soil erosions, thanks to God, that we also didn’t have to experience that in my province too.

But if ever I live in a place where storms, tornadoes, tsunamis and the like loves to visit I would probably get a fiberglass storm shelter to keep me and my family safe.  Aside from having a good-looking house, we need to have a house that would keep us safe, right? So we better choose the right way to build our house.

Ex-PBA Star Playing in our Town Fiesta

I got ROBERT WAINWRIGHT right here by my side. I am not a Basketball Fanatic and so when I saw this basketball player playing in our basketball court I have no idea who he is. But my boyfriend loves basketball, aside from the fact that he plays the sports, he also loves to watch NBA, PBA and the likes. So yes, he knows this man.

Okay, just for my boyfriend to be satisfied, after the championship game, I asked Rob Wainwright to strike a pose with me and smile.

Every year as we celebrate our town fiesta, we had a Mayor’s Basketball Cup. And we are so lucky this year because many great basketball players have graced our basketball court.
